Introduction to Dungeons & Dragons Character Classes

If you are going to go adventuring, you are going to need a job. In Dungeons & Dragons, jobs are call classes. Your class will determine your powers, weapons, armor, life points (HP) and much more. Nothing in the games shapes how you play more than a character’s class.

Barbarian

Fierce fighters, barbarians are hearty and strong characters that have the largest hid die (d12), which means they can take more damage than other characters.

Bard

The bard understands how to weave the power of music and magic to heal or do battle. Welcome almost everywhere they go, bards are the rock stars of Dungeons & Dragons.

Cleric

Priestly warriors, clerics wield divine power to fight the powers of darkness and evil in the world. Wise and fierce, clerics are battlefield healers.

Druid

Druids are more than tree-hungers, they wield the power of nature and transform into animal forms to do battle.

Fighter

The legendary soldier, a fighter is a master of the martial weapons and combat. Strength, dexterity and fortitude keep this character standing in major battles.

Monk

Masters of martial arts, monks hone their bodies into perfect weapons. They focus magic power into powerful strikes and elegantly pummel foes into submission.

Paladin

A holy warrior, the paladin is bound by a sacred oath. Like the questing knights of old these armored warriors have a quest and nothing will stop them from achieving their goals.

Ranger

Between the darkness and the light, between the savage wilds and rural settlements, the ranger is the guardian of civilization. Tracking enemies and surviving off the land, a ranger is a one character hunting party.

Rogue

A scoundrel with a heart of gold or a ruthless cutthroat, the rogue is versatile in their ability to use stealthy, trickery and cunning to achieve their goals.

Sorcerer

Born with power coursing through their veins, or exposed to power which infused them with magical abilities, sorcerers don’t cast magic, they are magic.

Warlock

Some seek power and sometimes power seeks a vessel. Warlocks channel power of powerful and other worldly beings.

Wizard

With knowledge comes power. Power to cast world changing and reality bending spells. The wizard warps and bends magic to their will using ancient knowledge and spells.
